A Poet Who Doesn't Know it
Part One
The figurative language I found in The Highwayman is as follows.
"The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas" This is a metaphor which, along with the other metaphors in the stanza serve to set the scene of the highwayman's visit.
"A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin" contains Alliteration with the repeated C sounds and B sounds.
"his hair like mouldy hay" Is a simile to describe the appearance of Tim the ostler.
"Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot!" Is onomatopoeia for the sounds of a horses hooves on a cobbled road.
Luv(Sic) part 5 by Nujabes ft. Shing02
"This too shall pass, but reality bites, it says not so fast
First you must climb a calvary of shattered hopes
And then a mountain of prayers unheard"
First you must climb a calvary of shattered hopes
And then a mountain of prayers unheard"
This is part of an extended metaphor describing grief as a journey up a mountain.
Assonance is used in several parts, one of which is "That wanted to set free the eagle in a cage
And you became eagerly what I wanted to be"
And you became eagerly what I wanted to be"
